Mercy Mt. Shasta has one of the leading orthopedic programs in Northern California, with some of the most renowned specialists in hip, knee, back and spine surgery, including Todd Guthrie, MD, Glen O'Sullivan, MD and Keith Ure, MD

Beginning with a pre-surgery orientation for these patients and their support person, the various aspects of what to expect-before, during and after surgery-are explained.  Our medical professionals review nutritional needs, nursing care, respiratory thrapy services, medications, spiritual care requests, physical therapy treatments, discharge planning, and how to prepare for returning home to recuperate.

We also pre-register these patients, perform required lab tests, and introduce these patients to many members of our staff.  Patients will also receive their own personalized healthcare guidebook specific to their procedure.  Then on the day of surgery, these patients arrive comforted with a fuller understanding of their procedure and their recovery process.
